Welcome to the 7 October 2025 Luton & Dunstable MGOC Newsletter.

Hello everyone! Welcome to the latest edition of our club newsletter, coming out on Tuesday, 7th October 2025.

Knebworth show:

A big thank you to everyone who attended the Knebworth show, great outfits but I think the prize goes to Richard and Kyle – and for Richard doing both days in his golden platforms!

We had two cars at Houghton Rock’s and we stayed till 5’ish and came away with a rosette but not for a car, it was Peppers from the dog show.

Not a very well-organised event but once we got going it was ok, plenty of stalls and a very nice cake stall.

A602 Autorama:

Probably our last show of the season was the A602 Autorama, which as usual was well attended and had a lot of stalls to haggle at – being the end of the season you can usually get a bargain or two!

Weedon Bec Visitor Centre:

We also had a visit to Weedon Bec Visitor Centre – just the two cars made this one as the weather was not looking great but appears we had the rain gods on our side as we missed all of the showers and only had to contend with a few puddles when we got back into Luton.

We had a good meal at EGO’s in Woburn as you do!

Sywell Pistons and Props:

I hope those who had tickets for Sywell Pistons and Props got sorted out I know we had cars attend on both days.

One we will struggle to do with a club stand unless we can share with another club!

Pub night:

Our pub night at the Red Lion with just six of us attending however we got a warm welcome and I can recommend the food and the price was also good value – maybe one to consider again.

Wednesday Wanderers:

Here’s a quick update on our Wednesday Wanderers Report from Gary. “For our September outing, ten members in five cars made the Wednesday wander.

As a large contingent of regulars were on the club holiday to York, I decided to pick somewhere local and easy to arrange, albeit a bit late.

We had two very regal YA’s make an impressive entrance to the car park at Iron Bridge Farm with the other three cars arriving individually.

We got to see Bob’s Porsche and another 1st was David and Brenda in the MGB GT.

This makes a double for them having attended their first pub night earlier in the year.

We all sat out in the afternoon sun and had a very nice brunch with a fire following it with ice cream.

We all departed at about 4pm when it started to cool down, but all in all, a very good outing , but not as good as Janet’s! ”

Upcoming club events:

Here’s a quick rundown of our upcoming club events:

Pitstone open day – from 11:00 am on Sunday , 12th October – this is a free event at the moment; however, I have seen correspondence from them looking to start charging from next year – possibly with a 20-year age limit for cars.

This one is usually dependent upon the weather and state of their field – so a wait and see what is put up on their Facebook page.

Pub night on Tuesday, 21st October

We will be trying to keep this one local and on main roads as the nights are closing in and the weather is against us. So on that note, the Round Bush in Hancock Drive LU2 7SF has been selected.

Events:

The club stands will be booked if the organisers of the shows allow it. But lately, organisers have been only allowing individuals to book online with different options for the club stand.

Some shows are turn-up only, and a few are display by age. We’ll do our best to let you know how and when to book your tickets well in advance, whenever possible.

We are back into the social calendar and most of us will be tucking the classic cars away or doing maintenance to get ready for next season.
