Hello everyone!
Welcome to the latest edition of our club newsletter, coming to you on Tuesday, the 4th November 2025.
Firstly, a big thank you to all of the club members who put in loads of effort and time in organising and making our many 40th anniversary events entertaining and fun.
Also, a big thank you to all who participated and to the new members who were enticed to join our car club this year, some from these events.
Our social calendar is now in full swing, and a big part of this is the monthly pub night and get-together which was at The Round Bush.
Sadly, as is the case at many pubs now, food stopped being served at 8pm but we managed to take over a darts area and had a good natter and catch-up.
The pub was very welcoming, and even Pepper got served a drink from the very friendly staff.
Here’s a quick update on our Wednesday Wanderers – Report from Janet.
“For our October outing, nine members visited Bletchley Park. Our glorious leader (as Glyn would say) got lost on the way despite having written the directions.
On arrival, we had the inevitable coffee or tea, then split up to explore the many different buildings.
The exhibits and videos tell the story of the people, particularly Alan Turing, who devised machines and early computers to enable the thousands of people (mainly women) who worked there to break the German codes during World War Two.
Thus, they were able to learn the enemy’s plans and save many lives as a result.
Of course, all this work was carried out in the utmost secrecy, and the workers were not allowed to tell anyone where they worked or what they were doing.
The fact that always amazes me is that they had to crack codes which were changed at the end of every single day.
If you haven’t been before, it’s well worth a visit.
The journey home was rather annoying for some of us as we came across three separate road closures!
Here’s a quick rundown of our upcoming club events:
Wednesday Wanderers Christmas Lunch is on the 26th of November at the Horse and Jockey on the A5183 near
Kensworth. Pre-order details and monies required, please.
We also have the Club’s Christmas Meal at the View in Pegsdon on Saturday, the 13th of December. Again, pre-order details and monies required, please.
And for those interested, the Classic Car Show at the NEC is on from the 7th to the 9th of November.
Other than these, I have nothing in the calendar!
Unless anyone knows of any events or things we can do/attend before Christmas?
Pub Night:
Pub night is on Tuesday, 18th November, and we will be trying to keep this one on the main roads as
the nights are closing in and the weather is against us.
So on that note, the Farmers Boy in Kensworth (LU6 3 PJ) – Tel 01582 872207 has been selected.
AOB.
The St Patrick’s Day Parade in Luton will be on Saturday, the 14th of March – I’m looking for classic
cars to attend again and this time, thanks to Richard, we have two magnetic club signs to promote the
club.
Events page:
The club stands will be booked if the organisers of the shows allow it. But lately, organisers have been only allowing individuals to book online with different options for the club stand. Some shows are turn-up only, and a few are displayed by age. We’ll do our best to let you know how and when to book your tickets well in advance, whenever possible.
We are back into the social calendar and most of us will be tucking the classic cars
away or doing maintenance to get ready for next season.
I have the dates for the Chiltern Hills Classic Car Show for next year and will start to
build the events calendar probably in February when we start to get more events
confirmed.
St Patrick’s Day Parade is on Saturday, the 14th March – watch this space for more St
Patrick’s Day events, i.e. Quiz night at the Black Swan – quiz team of six club members?!
