Welcome everyone, to the Tuesday, 3 February 2026 edition of the club newsletter and AGM

agenda.

Club Business

Welcome everyone to our 2026 AGM Club Meeting.

Bulleted points from last year’s AGM meeting – proposer Paul M / seconder Phil W.

• Subs increased to £10 – A review of the finances yearly to ensure we have enough funds to do what the club wants and needs to do within the next year or two.

• Approval of the Financial report – proposer Bridget W / Seconder Lynda D.

• A new Gazebo was purchased that can fit on a MGB/Midget Boot rack – feedback is positive on the size and ease of use so we may purchase another of the same design when the large Gazebo needs replacing.

• The Club’s 40th anniversary events – Ideas and special outings invited from the membership.

• Voting in of club officials – Secretary – Gary Winter, Treasurer – Janet Hawkins.

• Awarding of Trophies

Proposer / seconder

AGM Agenda

Subs are to be reduced to £8 PP for 2026 after reviewing the accounts and the successful discounted purchase of a new easy erect 3×3 Coleman gazebo (+1 side). A replacement 4×4 gazebo is not required for 2026/2027, subject to review we may purchase another 3×3 easy erect Coleman Gazebo and joiner 2027/28.

Financial Report shows the club in much better standing and is looking ok for the next year – a copy will be available at the meeting: Review (proposer and seconder) and any questions concerning the report are invited from the club members.

Voting in for the Club officials – Treasurer and Secretary. We have had no nominations for either post, so we will proceed with a vote at the live meeting.

Please note: Janet’s email has changed to hawkinsk161@gmail.com

The Club’s Treasure Hunt will be on Sunday 19th April – David and Carol Adams will update us on the details nearer the time.

The Secretary’s Tour 2026 – I propose somewhere local that involves a drive to some food and banter Date TBC

Drive It Day is Sunday 26th April – who would be up for a longer drive and possibly a visit to the Chinese in Letchworth on the way back – as per our seaside runs of past years?

Trophies to be awarded at the meeting are:

  • Club Member(s) of the year,
  • Club Vehicle of the year,
  • Mentioned in Dispatches Award,
  • Foreign Breakdown trophy,
  • Overall Breakdown of the Year trophy.

Wednesday Wanderers Report:

“For our January outing, we had an interesting mix of cars, mostly because of salt on the roads.

There was a Kia, Mercedes, VW, Seat, Fiesta, BMW, Corsa, Smartcar, and one MGB – nine different makes which must be a record! Plus an Oscar.

The meeting place was the Danish Camp at Willington, east of Bedford. We all had a hot drink on arrival, then some had lunch there, others either went on to Frosts or to another nearby garden centre with an antiques centre.

Most of us also had a walk along the river in the sunshine, and it was not too cold, so we were very lucky, considering the previous day’s wet weather.”

The next Wednesday Wanderings will be: TBC.

Pub Night will be on Tuesday, 17th of February (around 20:30 or earlier if dining) at The Orange Tree, 100 Stevenage Road, Hitchin, SG4 9DR. Tel. 01462 432733 – Pancakes anyone?

The next club events are –

  • Secretaries Tour (TBC),
  • St Patrick’s Day Parade – Saturday 14th March
  • Club’s Treasure Hunt Sunday the 19th April

AOB. for those attending the meeting or if you have AOB and are not able to attend, please email me with your question which I will present at the meeting.

Events Page

Club stands will be booked if the organisers of the shows allow; however, the recent trend is for organisers to only allow individuals to book online with various options employed for the club stand. Examples are: Club Name for Chiltern Hills Rally and a club code issued for Kimbolton .

Some shows are turn-up only and a few are display by age – we will endeavour to advise you of how and when to book your tickets well in advance where possible.

The Club’s Events Calendar is being finalised and should be available in March.

If anyone has a favourite show or event they would like the club to review or include, please email the details to me.
