Club Business
I have been advised by Linda Epson from the MGOC Magazine Team that due to an email server issue last month, we may not have a Regional Round-up monthly report in the club magazine…and that the magazine will be delivered later than normal for some members.
Wednesday Wanderers Report:
“For February’s outing, we took a nice, easy run to the Green Man at Stanford.
We originally had ten cars at the meeting place, but unfortunately, one didn’t get going for over an hour, so it was too late to join us. We therefore had sixteen people for a very leisurely meal, but the food was very good when it arrived.
We were lucky to enjoy a sunny and quite mild day and no diversions!”
“Secretaries edit” The breakdown of the year competition has started. Bob in his Porsche managed to get to the meeting point, but then the German-engineered Porsche wouldn’t start in time for the meal, but he did get underway eventually and managed to make it home. However, as we know, a MG from Abingdon always beats a Porsche from Zuffenhausen, so Kevin is in front by a fuel pump!
And just for wondering where Pam is — she has yet to place or take the B out of the barn, but there is still plenty of time for her to take the lead— St Patrick’s Parade ……..
The next Wednesday Wanderings will be: TBC.
Pub Night will be on Tuesday, 17th of March (around 20:30 or earlier if dining) at The Star in Chalton, 33 Luton Road, Chalton, LU4 9UJ Tel. 01525 872248.
The next club events are: –
St Patrick’s Day Parade – Saturday 14th March –
Those attending please aim to arrive at York St, Luton (LU2 0ES) for about 10:30 am – tea and coffee available in the Luton Irish Forum across the road and the parade leaves at 11:00 am. Leave enough time to decorate your car etc. and this year we are trying out speakers to add a bit of sound to the rear of the parade – please bring your own if you have any (or car stereo) and appropriate parade music/sounds!
The Secretary’s Tour is on Saturday the 21st March and is to the Tring Brewery –
please book a place on the Brewery website https://tringbrewery.co.uk/ 2:00pm tour – £5pp and the tour lasts about an hour with samples!
I suggest meeting at the Travellers Rest – Tring Road Edlesborough, Dunstable, LU6 2EE at around 11:30 for a brunch or after that for just a tea/coffee – we will aim to leave the Travellers Rest car park for the brewery at about 1:15pm so that is your time to aim for if just doing the Brewery!
Events Page
Club stands will be booked if the organisers of the shows allow; however, the recent trend is for organisers to only allow individuals to book online with various options employed for the club stand.
Examples are: Club Name for Chiltern Hills Rally and a club code issued for Kimbolton . Some shows are turn-up only and a few are display by age – we will endeavour to advise you of how and when to book your tickets well in advance where possible.
The Club’s Events Calendar is being finalised and should be available in March.
If anyone has a favourite show or event they would like the club to review or include, please email the details to me.
The Club’s Treasure Hunt on Sunday, the 19th April – Please inform David or
Carol if you are participating or just want to turn up for the meal as they need
numbers for the restaurant.
Classic Drive-It Day will be on Sunday, the 26th April – The plan is to visit
Bressingham Steam and Gardens – Low Road, Bressingham, Diss, Norfolk IP22
2AA, and on the return leg we will drop into the Dragon King at Letchworth – 14 –
16 Station Road, Letchworth Garden City, SG6 3AU for an Authentic Chinese
Sunday Buffet (£21:50pp) – I need numbers for this to book the restaurant, so please
email me or fill in the form at the meeting.
