2026’s MGOC Drive It day kicked off at 11:00 at the Travellers Rest Pub and Restaurant in Tring, on a lovely sunny Sunday morning.

The Travellers Car park was filled up with MG’s that morning, with many people taking a look at our cars while we enjoyed a delicious brunch before our next destination that day.

Pepper and Oscar also joined us for our brunch and as usual behaved very well.

Next was a short drive to the Leighton Buzzard Light Railway.

The service opened by Leighton Buzzard Light Railway Ltd in 1919 to transport sand and it has carried a steam-hauled passenger train service since 1968. It also now houses one of the largest and most important collections of narrow-gauge stock in England.

The railway is managed and operated by the volunteer members of the Leighton Buzzard Narrow Gauge Railway Society, which is a non-profit organisation with charitable status.

At 14:30 we boarded the steam railway and prepared for our journey to the turn round point.

We had a short stop there while the excellent staff prepared our trip back to the main station.

The final visit on the Drive It Day was to the Globe Pub for dinner, a fine end to a perfect day.
The Light Railway web site is www.buzzrail.uk
It contains a time table for the trains, along with the Special Events Diary.
Give it a look and perhaps visit to experience something special, a chance to see and ride on a beautiful steam train.
