Welcome to the 2 September 2025 Luton & Dunstable MGOC Newsletter.

Hello everyone! Welcome to the latest edition of our club newsletter, coming out on Tuesday, 2nd
September 2025.

South Beds Classic Vehicle Show:

A big thank you to the volunteers who helped out at the South Beds Classic Vehicle Show.

We have had a lot of positive feedback on the layout and the efficiency of the marshalling – so well done,
Marshalls.

Steve is standing down as show organiser and Keith will be taking on that role for next year – a big thank you to Steve for all his hard work.

Flitwick

I hope Flitwick went well for those who attended, this is one of our favourite shows and being in the
school field I feel worked better than the main field.

Though we may have to arrive earlier next year to avoid the traffic congestion.

Club BBQ:

The Club BBQ had 37 MG’ers, 3 dogs and 2 cats hiding in attendance.

We have some lost property; see the pictures on WhatsApp and we will bring them to the meeting on Tuesday, or you can pop around and claim it back.

I hope you all enjoyed yourselves and had enough food and a good natter and laugh…. A big thank you to Chef David and all those who helped wash up and pack away.

Wednesday Wanderers:

Here’s a quick update on our Wednesday Wanderers Report from Janet:

“For our August outing, six members in four cars made the drive to the Chiltern Open Air Museum in Chalfont St Giles.

The main purpose of the visit was to see ‘The Longest Yarn’, an exhibition of scenes from the time of WW2, mainly set on the Home Front.

There were between 30 and 40 glass cases depicting realistic scenes with figures, buildings, vehicles, streets and gardens, all beautifully crafted in knitting and crochet.

The whole thing was much more extensive than I had imagined, the attention to detail was amazing, and the whole effect was spectacular and well worth the drive on its own.

The Museum also has permanent historic buildings from around the Chilterns which have been brought in, recreated and preserved.

I had a minor hiccup with a speedo cable and somehow managed to pop out in front, but the
journey back was a bit fraught. David and Tricia ended up with a puncture, and my screen wipers
stopped working….but we all got home eventually.

Upcoming club events

Here’s a quick rundown of our upcoming club events:

Houghton Rock’s:

Houghton Rock’s – from 9:00 am on Saturday, 6th September – this is a pre-booked
event, but entry is free.

I emailed a form you can fill in and scan/email to get a pass.

I’ve also seen on Facebook that they may allow entry on the gate, but this is not confirmed on any of the literature or website, and we have not done this one before. If anyone is going, we could meet up and convoy in.

A602 Autorama Show:

The A602 Autorama Show is on Sunday, 7th September.

This is a turn-up together to park together show as the only club stand is the A602’s, and I propose meeting at the usual KFC Monkswood Way, carpark for 9:30 am.

Sywell Pistons and Props:

For Sywell Pistons and Props, those who have a complimentary ticket, I’m advised by
Lisa it should be available in your ticket booking app or have been emailed to you – if
not, contact lisa@livepromotions.co.uk.

You will, however, have to use it on the Pit Lane entry option as we do not have enough entrants for a two-day club stand, it clashes with the club’s mini break and others are just too traumatised to go back!

I’ve spoken with the organiser who is adamant we cannot have a club stand without at least five cars on both days and that PITLANE is the only option open to us!

Pub Night:

Pub night on Tuesday, 16th September, will be at The Red Lion in Great Offley, SG5 3DZ. Tel.
01462 768281.

Events page,

The club stands will be booked if the organisers of the shows allow it.

But lately, organisers have been only allowing individuals to book online with different options for the club stand.

Some shows are turn-up only, and a few are display by age.

We’ll do our best to let you know how and when to book your tickets well in advance, whenever possible.

Weedon Bec Visitors Centre

Proposal is for an early Wednesday Wanderers on Friday, 12th September, to Weedon Bec Visitors Centre – we can discuss at the meeting if this is practicable.

Pitstone Classic

We have Pitstone Classic last two open days on the 14th September and 12th October, so weather permitting, we can do either or both.

Classics at the Compasses

September 17th is the last Classics at the Compasses – anyone doing this?

Anyone know of other events we could attend in September or October as we
sometimes get OK weather?
