Welcome everyone, to the Tuesday, 1 September 2026 edition of the club’s newsletter.
Club Business
I’m looking for interest in a May 2027 Club Holiday to the Isle of Man – so far we just have five people interested. If anyone else is interested, please speak to me. The idea of cost is £350 pp, including the ferry costs, a double/twin ensuite room including breakfast (£440 pp dinner and B&B) for three nights. Options for five nights and to fly over for those so inclined. The Company will also arrange entry into attractions for us and maps etc. Plus dedicated parking.
Details of our Christmas WW Lunch and Club Meal have been emailed out, and we will be looking for a £5 deposit per person for each event at this meeting. If you are not attending the meeting, you will need to contact Janet to arrange payment – we will need to pay this deposit to both venues in September to secure our bookings. Limited spaces for both, so be quick.
Round-up of this month’s events –
Great show at Rushden, loads of stalls and cars, plus the took a shine to my YA and we got a trophy! Next was the South Beds Classic Vehicle Show, with all the feedback so far it went well with another full field and great weather, and the club won another trophy with David’s MG SA. Well done to David. Flitwick Car and Bike Show was up next, and we got a bit spread out but loads of stalls and food and crowded but the usual traffic issue, it worked well turning up before nine from the M1 side and meant we got straight in and parked under the trees in field C, Area D got the overflow from field A as it was full.
I hope everyone enjoyed the Club BBQ; the weather was kind to us, and the food was good as was the company – this is open to all club members and part of the club’s charter..
We finished off the month with a Saturday at Knebworth and the Monday at Ashwell Country Show – what I would say was it was nice to attend a country show in our classic cars (three club cars) and something a bit different from a pure car show. Next year we will still have to register, but I expect from the feedback and fact cars were turning up till 11 am and leaving before five, this will be the norm. For those who dropped out, it should be one to try next year
– FYI the jousting was great as was the food and the stalls!
Wednesday Wanderers Report
Report of Wednesday wanderings and the next planned event:
For our August trip, we had a picnic at Rushmere Country Park, Heath and Reach. We all arrived at different times, some earlier for a drink in the café, but then we set up under our favourite large pine tree and eventually we had 16 members. Picnic lunches were brought out and enjoyed, and despite the wet weather forecast, we were lucky to have the shade of the tree as it remained sunny and quite warm. Everyone agreed it was a pleasant, relaxing few hours with good company and lots of chatter.
The next Wednesday wander will be to: A National Trust site TBC

Club stands will be booked if the organisers of the shows allow; however, the recent trend is for organisers to only allow individuals to book online due to Martyn’s Law with various options employed for the club stand.
Examples are: Club Name for Chiltern Hills Rally and a club code issued for Kimbolton. Some shows are turn-up only, and a few are display by age – we will endeavour to advise you of how and when to book your tickets well in advance where possible and if any age restrictions apply.
The next club events we need to prepare for:
None – anyone have any events for September or October we can attend?
