Welcome everyone, to the Tuesday, 5 May 2026 edition of the club’s news letter.
Club Business
The Events Calendar is now on our website – LDMGOC. Check it out and if you want to contribute an article/story or pictures of your car to the website, please send your submission to Richard Arnold or me.
The Club’s Treasure Hunt was a great success – a big thank you to David and Carol for all their hard work. I suppose congratulations are due to myself, Bridget, and Pepper for winning!
The Classic Drive-It day – which for those who didn’t spot it, was a transport-themed event.
We started at the Travellers Rest for brunch, then convoyed onto the Leighton Buzzard Railway and had a great steam train ride around Leighton Buzzard, then ended at the Globe Inn on the Canal.
I hope you enjoyed it, even though the Globe let us down with slow and poor service and one of the worst access roads I’ve had the misfortune of scraping my exhaust over in a long while!
I’m proposing a new trophy for the luckiest non-breakdown – My YA made it to the Lilly Arms (Club’s pub night). I had a nice pint and a curry, great company, and then when I left, the YA started and stopped – no fuel left in the tank (reminder to myself I must fix the tank sender!) then a nice chap from the pub gave me £20 worth of fuel to get home!
But it still leaves Ian way out in front having been transported home in the breakdown of the year competition – but plenty of time for him to be overtaken…also in the running are me, Kevin, Richard and Len.

The next planned event: TBC
For April’s outing, five cars had a pleasant drive to High Wycombe Museum, but unfortunately, on this occasion, there were no MG’s for various reasons. The main focus of the museum was the display of many different models of chairs for which the town has been famous, together with details of the manufacturing process.
There were also artefacts and information from Wycombe’s history, and an exhibition of modern art. Sadly, there was very little food on offer in the café, so we had to make do with just a few snacks and rather slow service.
However, it was a lovely sunny day, so the drive home was quite enjoyable.
Pub Night
Will be at Grove Lock, Grove, Leighton Buzzard LU7 0QU- Tel 01525 380940
on Tuesday 19th May (around 20:30 or earlier if dining). Seating outside by the canal if nice.

Club stands will be booked if the organisers of the shows allow; however, the recent trend is for organisers to only allow individuals to book online with various options employed for the club stand. Examples are: Club Name for Chiltern Hills Rally and a club code issued for Kimbolton. Some shows are turn-up only, and a few are display by age – we will endeavour to advise you of how and when to book your tickets well in advance where possible.
This Month’s Events:
Chiltern Hills Vintage Vehicle Rally – Sunday 17th May, we have a club stand reserved and space will be allocated based on club tickets brought stating ‘Luton and Dunstable MGOC’.
Cars turning up on the day will only get in after 10:30 and only if space is available, or those who have not purchased a club ticket won’t be able to get to the club stands and will be directed to the general exhibitors areas.
